Dental Implants

The implant holds securely, and less of the roof of mouth is covered, for a more normal feel. An implant is a great choice for anyone who speaks publicly – no chance of a denture slipping and no metal bridge shows. They look natural for confident smiling and comfortable chewing.
The process takes time, but the result is the closest replacement to nature available. A qualified dentist or oral surgeon carefully places a titanium screw into the jawbone to simulate the root of the missing tooth. Over the next three-to-six months, the bone grows around the implant, holding it firmly. Then a permanent crown is placed on an abutment (or post) inserted into the implant. Since the implant is a stand-alone restoration, there is no damage to adjoining teeth, as with a bridge.
Implants are suitable for patients of all ages, even children, and for the replacement of one or multiple teeth. Since the implant integrates into the jaw, you must have adequate bone to support it. A good candidate will have no serious gum disease and resulting bone loss. If a patient has significant bone deterioration and eventual loss of teeth is inevitable, we may remove the teeth and place implants while there is still viable bone.
